6 Hour Pose

Oh man, this guy was so awesome. Just look at him. I didn't include his tattoos or his piercings, though. I couldn't believe it when he both requested a standing pose for the 6 hours and then chose THIS pose for the 6 hours.

It has its problems, but on the whole I'm pretty pumped. I cannot begin to tell you how many sessions it took me in this class to figure out how to mix that slate gray in the background. It's pretty much my nemesis color. Until we meet again, slate gray backdrop, until we meet again...

Oil paint, all over my clothes

Hey! It's my first ever in all my life, before your very eyes, 3 hour alla prima figure painting. We were only using a limited pallet of cadmium red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue and white. I didn't quite finish. Don't judge me!

Also I'm adding in some figure drawings from today. These were all short poses, 5-10 minutes, with natural lighting rather than a spotlight.

Thanks for looking!

Drawing Saturday

Rosa and I watched Anchorman and doodled.
We kind of made a mess.

Some sketchbook scans! Man, it's amazing what a difference scanning at a high DPI makes.

YO-YO YO

We're not dead! We're just busy. ROSA...ahem...has quite a bit of stuff to show you. I have some things to be scanned, as well. Today I started a figure painting class at the Gage Academy and hopefully by next Tuesday I will have some of my 20 minute studies to share. Oil does take an awful long time to dry, you know.

In the mean time, here is a creepy lady.

A big house

Rosa's assignment was for a composition including at least three characters and a defined foreground vs background. She has not finished yet but we get to see the progress shots!!

And a bonus drawing:
