progression

I've got a few things coming up soon that I can finally share with you guys, but in the mean time here is another progress shot. I'm working on a few illustrations for my portfolio in addition to my portrait paintings and figure drawings, namely illustrations from Homer's Odyssey. This is the sirens, and forthcoming will be the lotus eaters.

new projects

Amy

The Siren, progress

On Saturday I went to the Normal Rockwell exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum and I am so glad I went. They had every Saturday Evening Post cover he's ever done in chronological order as well as many of his most famous paintings and including one of my favorites, "The Problem We All Live With."

I can't even begin to tell you how much more amazing his paintings are in person. If you find the time, the exhibit is open through the end of May and it's only $9. I can't recommend it enough!

LU

This was a commissioned piece for a friend of their daughter Lu. This is the first finished portrait I've done since I began painting portrait studies every week. This was done partially from live sketches and partially from reference photos. I wasn't sure how that would turn out but in the end I couldn't be more happy with it. And isn't she ADORABLE?? Look at those cheekies!!
